Marcos Furer wins the title of Kolor best panoramic photographer 2013. Let’s get to know with this brilliant photographer:
Marcos, what is your background and how did you come into panoramic photography?
I have been a photographer for 25 years. Working as a photojournalist a big part of my life, but my true love with photography came from admiring Ansel Adams’ work and how he captured beauty and light in the American landscapes. Panoramic photography, I think, is a modern approach to view the beauty of the surrounding world with a natural perspective, just like our eyes perceive the world.
What motivated you to take part in the Panobook 2013 contest?
I am always interested to take part in photo contest. Not to win or get a prize, but to showcase my work and compare it with my colleagues. I think that the Kolor Panobook contest was a great opportunity to do so.
What does this victory mean to you?
To win such a prestigious contest means a lot to me. It gives me an idea of where I am really standing as a photographer. To have people appreciating my view of the world gives me a good feeling and encourages me to keep up shooting.
What inspired you when you took the shot?
The magic light of the afternoon, the shapes, the differences of tonalities and the human figure that gives dimension to the landscape inspired me.
In general, what equipment & software do you use during your shooting session?
I use to photograph with Canon cameras. This image was shot with Canon 5 d mark 3 and a 70-200 mm lens. After that I processed the panoramic render in Autopano Pro and some final adjustment in Lightroom/Silver Efex 2 combined.
What are your favorite subjects to shoot?
I love to shoot landscapes uncluding people. I like to have a perspective of the human figure in the open natural environment.
Do you have other projects you would like to share with us? What are your future plans in panoramic photography?
I am currently working on small area of Argentina that is full of panoramic views. The central area of Cordoba and its Sierras Chicas. My idea is to put a book together with my view of this area of the world that has a lot to tell regarding light and shapes. And is rich in human experiences.
Let’s end with your last word?
Although I came from the traditional photography, shooting film over many years, the tools available nowadays with digital photography help me to achieve what I’ve always had in my spirit. My perception of the world is enhanced with modern tools, even when I sympathize with the slower pace living of the past. My landscape images remind me of an era that no longer exists, at least in the modern concept of how the world should be.
