Palmela 2011 panoramic photography festival is taking place this week. Today, Alexandre JENNY, CEO of Kolor, held a conference about the creation of virtual tours and presented what could be the virtual tour of the future: a mix of photos and videos in a 360° view.
Integrating a video in a virtual tour is already possible with Panotour Pro software; the new method presented today is different: it enables to integrate a video and distort it to fit exactly its right place in the virtual tour. This enables, for example, to add a person speaking and moving in the virtual tour (a shopkeeper presenting his boutique, a guide in a museum…) without seeing the seems between the photos and the video.

I think it’s not that good as the http://www.multipla.tv!
the frame rate is too low. and you can easily see the edges of video!
I wish I could know more about how Michael has done it so smooth and without any border ?!

It is a project consisting of an innovative use of a common technique of creating virtual reality panoramas together with embedded video files.
The innovation of this solution has been achieved mainly by introducing a special way of video processing that has allowed us to obtain a proper “projection of imageâ€. Owing to this, each film embedded in the spherical panorama becomes an integral part.

I loved the video integration. Is there an option where the user can choose to load the whole video before it shows it so you don’t see the loading symbol.

Nice to see video integration.
I was wondering (asked this before) if video could be used as transition from one panorama location to another: walk in the scene: e.g. in the demo above: click on the door, then “walk” inside (linear video) to the next panorama location. In some cases this would be far better than the zoom in effect although the video quality would probably be less than the panorama quality.
Is that something for you to work on?

With reference to your slide18 in the Slideshare presentation. GoPano can already deliver affordable hardware for dslr and the iphone4 to record 360 video.
