How to record 360° videos

Using a manufactured mount to record 360° videos

The easiest way to record 360° videos is to use a 360° mount (or rig) on which you can install several GoPro cameras. The team of Kolor tested and selected the following rigs. You can find the results of our tests in this chart.

The opinion of the Kolor team A good mount that you can use in many situations. The product is well finished with the included accessories. We strongly recommend the optional 5X adaptor, as it adds a new configuration aligned with the horizon, reducing parallax errors. Beware not to turn too much the screws because the screw thread can be damaged. Very similar to the Freedom360, this mount theoritically offers more ease while installing and releasing the cameras, but our tests demonstrated that it was quite hard to release them without the screw driver. However, this mount is robust and versatile. You don't have the full sphere with this one, but it's still very interesting as the lenses are oriented horizontally by default, which lowers the parallax errors. A good mount to place on UAVs, drones or helmets. 7 cameras can be mounted on this rig, instead of 6. This increases the overlap and enhances the stitching. As the cameras are closer to one another, the parallax errors are reduced. This one can also hold 7 cameras, but they're all mounted on the horizontal field. As the cameras are closer one to another, the parallax errors are reduced. You don't get the full sphere but you can record in 1080p and get a final video which resolution reaches 8000x3000 pixels.
