c’t magazin, the prestigious German IT magazine just published in its 600th issue of May 2014 a comparative evaluation between the different stitching software available on the market. Kolor with Autopano was, of course, included in this comparison.
Autopano Pro convinced the members of the c’t redaction. Here are some excerpts from this article, translated from German:
Autopano Pro is designed for amibitious panoramic photographers: you notice it as soon as you are loading pictures. Indeed, you only need to select a folder containing the pictures which compose as many panoramas as you want. The software then analyzes all data stored in the specified path and subdirectories of files and sorts images found by series belonging to the same panoramic picture. It saves a lot of work in comparison with other stitching software as you don’t need to pre-sort files.(…)
Autopano Pro convinced us with almost perfect results (…). Differences in brightness are so well balanced that the underlying indidivual images that compose the panorama cannot even be recognized. It is also really easy to minor flaws such as twisted edges of building with the vertical lines tool. (…)
The software combines ease of use with numerous correction functions and it succeeds, as PTGui, in achieving professional rendering. The big advantage of Autopano is the automatic detection and grouping of individual images which can be hundreds unsorted on the hard drive.
