Fabrice Leduc wins the second place of the Kolor Panobook 2013 contest. Let’s get to know with this brilliant wildlife photographer:
Fabrice, could you introduce yourself?
I share with my wife, Francine, a passion for mountains, wide protected spaces and observing wildlife. We are keen of photography as we both practice it in our business and our pleasure.
What motivated you to take part in the Panobook 2013 contest?
Panoramic photgraphy is a fantastic tool to drown yourself at the heart of the image and reproduce both the details and the general environment of the scene.
What does this second place mean to you?
It motivates me to find new protected spaces where wild animals live free.
What inspired you when you took the shot?
We were looking for herds of wild vicuna in an isolated area of the Chilean Altiplano: Park Las Vicunas. This herd came to warm up thanks to the first warm sunrays, facing the volcano Guallatire (4600m above sea level) and illustrated perfectly the atmosphere of the Cordillera.
In general, what equipment & software do you use during your shooting session?
I use a Nikon D300S with 300 mm Nikon lens. Capture NX to develop RAW and then Autopano Pro 3.0 for the stitching.
What are your favorite subjects to shoot?
I love wildlife photography and especialy trying to restore harmony between the animal and its natural environment.
Do you have other projects you would like to share with us? What are your future plans in panoramic photography?
I want to shoot and present areas which show the richness of our planet, especially the profusion of life of primary forests or African savanna.
Let’s end with your last word?
Thanks to Kolor team & jury members. They give me the opportunity to show my images and share thoses magical moments. Thanks also to DarqRoom for high-quality prints.
I will be glad to take part to the Panobook 2014 contest.
